This was shot at my Aunt's beautiful backyard on one of our Chinese New Year family gathering. And this was what I wore when I interviewed the fashion photographer I mentioned in my previous two posts (except that little sling). This sling is such a cutie, and I couldn't resist it when I saw it and a classmate of mine bought the same one with me while we were out for a school project. When I brought it home, my 10 years old sister asked if she could borrow this bag someday. Its the end of CNY, its also serious time for me to get back to the gym after indulging all the food everywhere I went.

Where we goofed around a little and explored an underground space in school. On a side note, I'm quite disappointed that I can't go to the gym that often now that I'm extremely occupied with work and even if I have the one-hour to hit the gym, I'll be way too exhausted and tired to. Having to curb my diet and not exercise is quite a bad thing to me. Anyway, have a great weekend! xo.

Celebrated my sister's 10th and nephew's 1st birthday several weeks back. Really thankful to start the year with several family gatherings.

Uninspired days or when in doubt, wear black. But I'm still trying to refrain myself to wearing all black that often.

Here was briefly how my January went. 80% of it was myself doing my school work. Speaking of which, sorry for the lack of updates as explained. On a side note, I will be interviewing a relatively well known fashion photographer this Saturday and I'm excited and nervous about it! Hope it will go well and I'll share the interview Q&A on the blog in weeks to come. And I've decided to do a recap post of every month this year, it may not be a very focused content post. I have been very busy and stressed with school lately and the lack of ready photos at the moment to blog so I've decided to post some of my room inspirations. I've started becoming more interested with interior, mainly the decorative side for a room or workspace. Its sometimes rather confusing myself as to what I really want for my room. Looking at all the images above, the styles varies. From minimal to detailed to work based etc so its hard for me to decide what I should head. My room went through several shifting and changes but its still not what I want...Because its rather small and my furnitures are pretty huge, plus other restrictions, many ideas I had had to be striked off. I'll just keep these inspirations in mind and wait till my next long break and I'll do a massive clear out since I have a lot a lot of things in my room, pack everything and decorate (Hopefully I will). Its the first day of the lunar Dragon New Year. A little update about today: I went to the gym early because I felt really fat after having two heavy reunion dinners with both my maternal and paternal sides. Then I went to visit my relatives and did some of my school assignment at my Grandmother's house. But lost my motivation to continue my work. Need a break!

I'm not really the kind who would clad in an all-red ensemble for Chinese New Year. Who says we got

to wear bright colours? Well I agree bright colours suit the festive mood but monochrome suits me more and besides, deep in my mind school assignments are chiming in my mind repeatedly... I got this top while I was in Hong Kong and told myself to keep this piece to be worn on Chinese New Year because it doesn't have the usual collar, just collar stand which in other words is mandarin collar. Plus, its sheer-ness is comfortable just nice for the hot weather here despite the recent downpour. Shot these photos just outside my Grandmother's house when I reached. Its another long day of visitings tomorrow, new set of clothings to wear!

Some sneaks and behind-the-scene. Hope to show the full set of photographs by the second week of February. I learn so much from each photoshoot I do as I write my reflections at the end of the day. I'd usually write down what I feel was good and bad, what I have achieved from my plannings, what I have improved and what I have to improve further. Each photoshoot is a great experience. I am now working on another shoot for school with some of my classmates. The set of photographs for that will probably be out only in May since its only at pre-production stage. Thank you Yue Han, Sarah and Shima for helping me out with this shoot and braving the blazing weather!

An outfit out the 5 consecutive days I wore black which I mentioned on my previous post. Black is no doubt versatile and a colour I often purchase when comes to shopping...When I'm uninspired (which I was), I would go for black. However, having said that, I think I need to take a break from purchasing black clothings but opt for other dark toned hues due to my body type and skin tone. Not that I don't wear light coloured clothings but it just doesn't compliment me well. Ps, thank you Arella for the photography!

The visuals I shot are probably more on sight-seeing because that's when I can relax and enjoy the scenery. Other than that, I'd be busy staring at the map trying to find my way from a place to another, ask for directions or busy shopping. As this is my first time in Hong Kong, with limited days and request from my parents for some sight-seeing, it was quite a tough job planning the itinerary. Which took me about a week to plan out. Several visual diaries from my two separate trips last December, hope you enjoyed the photographs I've posted!

I guess sorting images and editing them would have to be pushed back. I'm currently in midst of reading an article by Mary Lynn Damhorst...Trying really hard to fight against all the yawns and temptations to just sleep! I'm also trying to tune back to working at night and sleeping much later than usual.

Seafood dinner. And that's steamed egg in sea urchin I think.

I like how the peacock and the birds were so natural and cooperative for me to snap.

We were unprepared for a visit to the beach so we did not pack in anything suitable for beach and were rather overdressed.

The food here may look kind of unhygienic but the bbq chicken I tried taste really good especially with their local seasoning powder.

An extremely cold cable car ride up to a hill. The wind was extremely strong and there were several gap around the cable car. Shivered for about 15 minutes hugging my mom and back.

At monkey Island. The guide instructed us not to wear anything related to red or basically flamboyant as the monkeys will get jealous and attack you. And we witness a monkey jumping onto this lady cause she was wearing pink. Too shock to take any pictures during that moment. And another monkey snatching away someone's bag of peanuts. So I didn't dare to go near them.

Seeing a rural piece of land with several homes with nothing else. No shopping malls or schools. It makes me feel very grateful to be in a safe country and a loving family. I thank God once again for all he has bless me with.

Reached this place called Xing Long, one of the colder part of Hainan. Wearing knit and a coat wasn't enough to suffice the cold especially reaching night and with the drop of temperature.

A deserted view outside my hotel with a chicken farm outside. And these chicken made a lot of unpleasant noise in the middle of the night.

I'll be posting a few more pictures taken in Hong Kong once I sort them out. Back to school, felt refreshed but still in midst of tuning my lifestyle back as a student. Busy life coming up but I still hope to update the blog often.

Few snaps along the busy Nathan Road at Tsim Sha Sui just outside my guesthouse. Isn't this your first time seeing me in a hat? This is the last week of my holiday, I hope to rest well and enjoy this very last bit before my life, literally, gets taken away. I spent today with few friends photo shooting and filming! Outdoor shoots are always very taxing, especially in the harsh weather we're in, but I feel a sense of accomplishment reflecting back on the whole process and looking at what's being shot. My first time doing a film, worked together with a very good friend of mine, so I'm pretty excited to edit and see the end product! Will share some on the blog once I'm done collating and editing, lots of work to complete on post-shooting behind the laptop.

This was what I wore on the last day of my trip to Hainan Island which was Christmas that day. Hainanese there do not really celebrate Christmas so there wasn't much Christmas mood around. So, its already 2012! I spent my New Year's Eve in church, watched the fireworks at Marina from my church, chit chat and ended up having 2 hours of sleep before the usual Sunday service, had to conquer dozing off to keep myself still awake throughout.

A little recap of 2011: I felt that it was a year I thought a lot. Whereby I think about my life and future and then I made a few relatively big decisions. I'm also very very thankful for my family and friends who went through the year together with me. For all the guidance, teachings, encouragements, prayers, joy etc we all shared, I will always cherish & be grateful. 2011 has a been year where there's definitely ups & downs and a lot of challenges but I learnt to have faith in God and overcome them. In fashion, I started to change my style step by step and focused the content of my blog if you looked back into the archives but of course, there's a lot more for me to improve and work on which I will. It is also a year I started to take fitness more seriously, to be exact, starting June. I felt I've grown a lot this year spiritually in God, mentally and physically (oops). I end of 2011 with a thankful heart & a heart open up to challenges I'll face, knowing that God will be always there to guide me!

Here is my reflection for 2011 and resolutions for 2012. Just a thought: A few days back, I watched New Year's Eve. I thought its quite a nice movie, the speech by Claire Morgan (played by Hilary Swank) really touched me and very meaningful. Other than partying all night, wishing each other "Happy New Year", indulging in yummy food, what are you going to do to strive better for the coming new year? I'll leave you with the speech quoted from the movie. (For your info: This was made when the giant ball, a project Claire has been working on, big decoration for the event at Times Square NY was stuck mid air).

"It's suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year, to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. To remember both our triumphs and our missteps, our promises made and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt cause that is what new years is all about - getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about what if and start embracing what would be. So when that ball drops at midnight and it will drop, let's remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other. And not just tonight but all year long."

Feeling all touristy as we had brunch (which actually ended up as lunch) at Dempsey and then visited the Logos Hope cruise. Indulging in yummy food and taking photographs like a tourist. It was an enjoyable day going out with my friends, whom I've been friends with for more than half my life or almost my whole life! Simple outfit for the unpredictable weather, a few more images of it soon. Seeing pictures of myself now is a reminder its time for me to gym more especially after two overseas trips.

hong kong photo diary

I love travelling because I get to immerse myself in another culture and environment. Other than shopping the whole day, indulging in good food and squeezing with everyone else on the MTRs for this trip, I got to visit the small shops, morning wet market, olden day village, view the skyscrapers (which is very different from Singapore's). Seeing what others do everyday be it young or old, look at the way they live, what they speak...was an eye opener. That's what makes travelling so exciting. I always believe that even if the place is boring, there'll always be something unique about it and more importantly, keeping memories of those places in my mind forever. There're so many places I'd love to visit, its countless!

*I had actually scheduled this post to be posted a few days ago while I was away at Hainan Island but it appears that I had made a mistake to the settings hence it wasn't posted at all. I've just returned home from my flight. I'm a little late but still, Merry Christmas everyone! There're 12 days of Christmas isn't it? Hope all of you had a great and blessed Christmas!

If you're observant, you'd have noticed everything in the outfit is the same except for the top I wore. It was the same day and awhile after purchasing the knit, I decided to change into it as soon as I stepped out into the cold air. I remembered it was 1st December and there was a sudden drop of temperature, and I could finally wear knit without sweating! Now I'm thinking about the impossible again...If only Singapore has such cooling weather... Good thing is I'll be flying off again next Wednesday, so hello awesome weather!

My set of photographs taken in Zhu Hai, a half day trip we squeezed in when we were in Macau. The steak and Portuguese cuisine pictured above is one of the most 'worth-it' western food I've had. The portion is filling, the food is good, service is relatively well and it costs only approximately S$5-6 and it comes in a set!

On a side note, I haven't been out of my home apart from going to the gym and for a swim since Monday. This week has been a very mundane & lazy week because I'm broke since the trip...So would you kindly help me out here?

Some of the things I got from my recent trip. After taking these pictures, I realised how pinky the photographs turned out to be. I'm not a fan of pink so it seem kind of odd for me to buy a pink top, I now have some pink striking out in my wardrobe but I wanted to experiment something different from my usual wear. Vivi magazine never fail to impress me with the array of images they put into their spreads but still look so attractive and I really admire the craft and intricate seashell details on the box I got in Zhuhai. The most expensive thing I got from my trip was Chanel's No. 5 Eau de Parfum. Was contemplating whether to buy it but its scent convinced me to purchase it. A new scent for now from my previous Burberry Brit red!

Outfit for the last half a day in Macau before I took the ferry towards Hong Kong. Macau is an interesting place in my opinion. Different from what I thought it would be. I thought it would be a quiet place with a few local landmarks but it was considerably happening and pretty crowded along the streets of San Ma Lo. I would want to go back there for the egg tarts, its really awesome.

This was how I spent my 2 days in Macau. Indulging in their local Portuguese-Chinese pork chop & egg tarts. Their egg tart beats Singapore's hands down. Its sweet, soft and its crust is so crispy...Heaven! We visited the usual must-go-to in Macau such as St. Paul's ruins, St. Dominic's church, Senado Square, the Venetian and roamed around the streets of shops at San Ma Lo. Although I'm legal to visit the casino there, we didn't enter due to the tight schedule to visit other places. The weather then was similar to Singapore's, just less humid with slightly cooler breeze compared to the scorching one here. I've had some fun trying to pronounce Portuguese street names. We also squeezed in some time for a visit to Zhuhai as well which I will blog about very soon. Anyways, happy December! x

Lei Ho Mou! I'm now in Hong Kong. Was at Macau for the past 2 days. The trip has been leg-aching and it's really making me grow fat but I'm enjoying it! I submitted my last assignment on Monday and yesterday I went back to school to find out that I'm officially accepted into Fashion Communication! I've been wanting to study this course before I came to Lasalle. Since Monday I had been lazing around at home...Went to the gym, watch America's Next Top Model and plan my itinerary for my trip which is in 10 days time! Today I'll be spending some time reading magazines I bought some time ago, Monki magazine I received in my mail but didn't have time to read and "Influence" by MKA which has been on my wishlist for years since it was published and I finally have it! I was overjoyed when the postman arrived at my door with the book. Christmas is coming and I'm already in Christmas mood! Will be spending my Christmas overseas. Just the last submission and I'm done with school for now. Can't wait for holidays. Earn some money, learn new things, relax, enjoy Autumn overseas, catch up with old friends, celebrate Christmas and New Year! I want to look for a place to intern but I gotta update my CV and portfolio and plan out my schedule first. Anywhere good to intern? Past few days was like living in hell. Had very little sleep, didn't eat well, got a random chest pain and fever but at least its about to be over and I'm feeling much better now! I can't wait to get back to the gym again, haven't exercise for weeks due to school and I can really feel myself growing fatter..Its time to exercise soon especially before and after my trip which I'm pretty much excited about!

I was just thinking of something to blog and realised I've got nothing much to blog about because school has been really busy but I thought I could as usual, share on this blog the little random things I took in the past few weeks.

1. Some fashion illustrations which I was pretty attracted too at Raffles City.

2. This $200 top made of silk which felt so good on my skin and I absolutely love the collar details. And cause its $200 I didn't buy it..

3. I've been having this nude drawing lesson of a life model for the past 3 weeks. This was one of the blind drawing I had to do. I love blind drawing because its the only time when my drawings can look ugly and abstract without getting bad comments from my lecturer.

4. Some of the fashion history books I borrowed from NLB for my essay. And honestly, writing essays are such torture. Save me....

5. Dinner over at Blue Mountain while catching up with my foundation studies classmates. Really miss working with them. Everyone had gone to different paths in design.

6. This really cute cat sleeping soundly at the bus stop.

7. My A3 size birthday card from my classmates, this accidentally spelled "again" as "adain" lol.

8. 5-course Thai dinner with Cai Yan, ate till our tummy almost burst. Thank you for the dinner!

Yesterday I turned 18 and I want to thank my family and all the friends who has wished me in any ways you did, for the gifts and cards. I feel very blessed! Though going to school took up half the day up, I had a nice dinner with my family at Bumbu, its thai-indonesian cuisine. The pasta in the first picture is from 15 minutes which I had for lunch. I personally feel that it tastes pretty normal. I was wearing a red wine dress from lucydacyd and Dr Martens. Once again, thank you all for the wishes, every wishes sent made my day xx

Snaps from my new camera. I got the 18-55mm lens and 50-250mm lens where I can zoom to quite a far distance. The second image is a building that's pretty far away from my house which I shot with that lens. This lens allows me to be a budding paparazzi somehow. These few days has been quite tiring, can never get enough sleep. School's draining me...I need a holiday soon. Can't wait for another 5 weeks or so till the end of the first semester.

A simple Sunday I spent with family. Church in the morning and then met my family to celebrate my Granduncle's birthday at Raffles Country Club. Lots of food, playing with my 8 months old nephew and seeing him pull my hair in all directions, karaoke, birthday songs, indulging in Tiramisu, talking to my partially drunk uncle who asked if "I'm happy" and funny thing is that he has a dog named happy... So I'm not quite sure what he is really asking me lol. Speaking of birthdays, my 18th birthday is approaching in a few weeks time and its just 3 weeks before assessment. My birthday always falls before exams/assessments ever since I was 7.

One of the most beautiful collection during Milan fw in my opinion. Fendi and Prada were beautiful too but I felt that Versace's collection was really beautiful because it captivates viewer's, especially women. Glad Donatella is the creative director of her brother's brand. The collection was under water world inspired. Starfish, seahorses, seashells gold studs like treasures, and its colours were so mermaidian. I wouldn't mind having the last two dresses as my wedding gown. Attended World Runway Premiere last Sunday evening which was probably something interesting that happened throughout my week. Now that I am done with my submissions on Monday, I've already watched the last half of Princess Hours... Its my 3rd time watching it? Not a big fan of korean dramas but that is one of my favourite. I went for work again at Tracyeinny, I'm having a school discussion tomorrow and will be starting on my work again. Talk about a week of rest, its more like a few days of breather but still can't get myself off school yet.

A little update for the blog. Here's the video of the Tracyeinny shoot at cold rock at Marina Bay Sands which I've posted here. I did the styling for this shoot together with one of my boss, Pamela. Got myself a pair of England edition Dr. Martens and its my favourite shoe now. Accompanied by all my socks which looks pretty boring. I don't wear bright coloured or overly printed ones so I go for these few. I want to get more but I'm not sure whether its worth buying more. The faux fur bag has aroused several questioning from a few, asking whether its dog fur haha! And its definitely not dog fur because firstly I won't be able to afford one, I don't know if there're actually bags made of dog fur anyway and its too cruel to carry one. All the dog lovers out there will skin me. Does it really look like dog fur? This shades is from my Dad's optical shop, they're DKNY and I love vintage frames. I want more!

School work is piling up at a tremendous speed. On a side note, I'm happy to buy this blazer at Club 21 bazaar. They're really comfortable and fits me well! Because of my body size.. its always harder to get a fitting blazer, they're always a little tight. Anyway, Selamat Hari Raya! As usual, a break isn't a break to me, because I've to do my school assignments. Life of a design student but enjoying what I'm studying :)

#2 I've been doing weaving and embroidery for textiles. Its kinda fun but really tideous and takes a lot of patience to do.

#3,4 I sew the black dress from scratch. Bad stitchings everywhere but I still wore it out..

#6 Japanese ramen from IMM's kopitiam which tastes pretty good, well at least to my liking.

#7 One of my outfit I wore to school last week. Wearing gonelikemagic black maxi dress, thrifted shoes, New Look socks, thrifted leopard cardigan.

#9 Scored 3 pieces of outerwears from Club21 bazaar last Sunday with Arella, so happy with our buys!

#17 Had to wear 60s/70s to school, prior to what we're currently studying - fashion history. I chose the 60s Mod look. Think The Beatles, Twiggy, Jane Fonda (I know I don't look a bit like them). Wearing Zara mod dress, thrifted vintage shoes, chromaki faux fur bag. The Zara dress is another good buy :)

PS: Sorry for taking outfit pictures in this lift with that silver bar all the time. I'm too shy to ask friends to photograph me, I don't have a nice background at home to shoot in front of a tripod... Bear with such photos for the time.

Happy 46th Singapore! Not a patriotic person nor a "complainer" but I'm thankful to be a Singaporean. To be in this safe and blessed country, its something worth being grateful for. A lot of visuals on food throughout the week till the point my mom thinks I'm crazy. School has been all right so far, have got research, readings and materials buying to do. I'm thankful to have a pretty good timetable, 4 days per week of school and I end school latest at 7. Whereas some of my other friends end classes at 930pm or having 5 days of school straight. On a side note, I'm still disliking my hair but its much better than how it was on the first day. I was on the verge of going for hair extension or getting a wig.. Hoping my hair would grow faster for the time! Anyway, have a great weekend! I'm spending my Saturday at home to finish up my work. Sunday going to church and family time xx.

Please DO NOT laugh at my ugly hair. Had a haircut by a trainee stylist at Toni&Guy. All I asked was to thin my hair cause its so thick. Before the cut, a guy stylist talked to me about my hair. Based on his professionalism, he said that I gotta cut a little so I said ok, since its a little (it was suppose to be till my bra as a marking). But the lady cut it shorter than the marking, so now my hair length is above my bra. Its really short to me. And she thinned it too much, too layered. So the top part of my hair is very pouffy and so thin at the bottom. I've never liked such hairstyle really, its pretty "ah lian" looking in my opinion and now its on me. Sigh I'm really sad, I miss my previous hairstyle a lot even though its thick. I can only tie up my hair when I'm out now cause I really dislike it when I let it down. But its so short on top, I gotta pin them and all which is soooo troublesome. Previously, if I had to tie, I just need 1 rubberband and all my hair is up including my fringe and I can have a few hairstyles: centre parting, braiding, bun etc. Now I can only do a normal tie with needs of pins which still look very messy and that is very depressing. Besides I'm starting school, I've got ugly hair to school now. I have to wait till next year for it to get back to the hairstyle I want. Enough said, I'm really really really sad. I have a fear of haircuts.

My lunch today. Applaud me because usually I can't be bothered to prepare my meals if my mom doesn't cook. But I was lucky to find ham, cheese, lettuce, cooked nuggets, eggs at home.

And I went to the gym today. Didn't run a lot but I guess its a good start after such a long hiatus. Will go for a run tomorrow morning again if I am able to peel myself off my bed at 730 am.

Wanted to look for an intern at a Fashion company but its so difficult to look for one cause they require either a Diploma/ 1 year working experience in the fashion industry, which I have none. So I'll just work as a sales assistant and stylist this holiday. Come visit me anyday from Mon to Fri next week!

Had to attend a talk so I had to wear smart casual.

Had zero why I'm chosen to attend this, I'm not a leader in school. We were just suppose to represent students from lasalle foundation faculty & sit there. It was sooo boring I must say. Was fighting yawns throughout.

I love Yakult.

I grew up drinking this and Yakult always reminds me of my grandmother because she's the one buying yakult for my sister and I. I think I will drink this all the time even when I am an old lady but lets not think about the aging part for now.
